On March 10, 2026, an online seminar was held at the initiative of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan with representatives of the international scientific information database Web of Science Core Collection. The main objective of the meeting was to discuss issues related to the publication and inclusion of the country’s peer-reviewed scientific journals in this authoritative international database.
It was noted that the inclusion of national scientific journals in leading global databases would contribute to improving the quality of scientific research, strengthening the competitiveness of national science, and promoting the achievements of Tajik scholars at the international level.
The seminar was attended by the Head of Source Analytics of the Web of Science Core Collection in London Valentin Grigorievich Bogorov, Web of Science specialist Kendzhina Inesh, Regional Manager of Clarivate for Central Asia Lyaziza Adilovna Mukasheva, as well as heads of the Commission’s departments, including the Head of the Department for Grant Project Support and International Relations, the Head of the Department of Information and Scientific Journals, and leading specialists of the relevant divisions.
During the seminar, representatives of the Web of Science Core Collection provided detailed information on the criteria and key requirements for the inclusion of scientific journals in this international database, including compliance with international editorial and publishing standards, transparency of the peer-review process, the quality of scientific publications, and the enhancement of citation impact. Special attention was also paid to improving the effectiveness of editorial boards, expanding international cooperation, and strengthening the editorial policies of scientific journals.
The parties outlined further steps for cooperation and emphasized the need to undertake the necessary measures to facilitate the prompt inclusion of national scientific journals in this prestigious index. In particular, improving the quality of editorial and peer-review processes, implementing international standards of scientific publishing, and strengthening the development of national academic journals were identified as key areas of cooperation.
At the conclusion of the seminar, participants received answers to their questions and exchanged views on ways to improve the activities of the country’s scientific journals and align them with the requirements of international information databases. The participants emphasized that such seminars play an important role in the development of national science, the enhancement of the quality of scientific publications, and the strengthening of the position of Tajikistan’s scientific journals in the global academic community.
